VIDAL Drug Compendium

VIDAL’s main drug compendium is the indispensable reference for French healthcare professionals in their everyday practice. The 84th edition lists over 5000 drugs and 4900 non medicinal healthcare products. It is available in print and on CD-ROM, and appears annually at the end of January. Two updates are published each year, in May and October.

Each product monograph includes the official prescribing information as stated in the Summary of Product Characteristics (SPC), issued by the European Agency for the Evaluation of Medicinal Products (EMEA) and the French Agency for the Safety of Health Products (Afssaps).

 Overview:

• WHITE Section  : Alphabetical index of drug monographs.

• PINK Section : Alphabetical index of non medicinal healthcare products divided into six specific categories (accessories, disinfection, nutritional products, hygiene and cosmetics, reagents and tests, spas).

• BLUE Section : Alphabetical index of drugs by substance (INN, FAN, or usual name).

• YELLOW Section : Drug classification by pharmacotherapeutic class.

• GREEN Section : Alphabetical pharmaceutical company directory.

• The Practical Information fascicule contains the three BLUE, GREEN and YELLOW sections, as well as RED and GRAY sections and numerous complementary appendices of value to practitioners.

• RED Section: Brand name drug index.

• GRAY Section: List of generic drugs derived from the official Afssaps repertory.
